Incredibly beautiful natural phenomenon observed by tourists on the night of December 13 to 14 in Thailand. Vacationers could enjoy watching the last and most intense meteor shower this year Geminid spilled across the night sky, reported the media in Thailand.
According to astronomers, the meteor shower began back on Nov. 4, when Earth passed a massive trail of dusty debris left behind by a huge asteroid known as Phaeton 3200 and called by experts the “father” of the Geminid meteor shower. In other words, Geminids differ from other meteor showers in that they did not come from a comet, but “stones” and debris dropped by the asteroid.
As previously warned the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) on its Facebook page, the phenomenon could be fully enjoyed after 2:00 am and before dawn. It was on the night of Monday to Tuesday was the peak of the phenomenon. Tourists had a unique opportunity to see with the naked eye the last meteor shower of the year – 150 meteors, or shooting stars, streaked across the sky every hour. For this, vacationers chose locations without artificial light and waited for the moon to set, so they could see all the charm of the “active” sky without interference.
